I was out for a ride killing time before I was going to see a friend when I came across this man. His name is Jeff and he’s been traveling for eleven years on the road. He’s gone from the Canadian coast-to-coast, twice, and has traveled across most of the US - going as far east at Alaska and as far south as Texas.
I didn’t know why I stopped to say hello, but it was nearly 12 AM and he just seemed like an interesting guy to talk to. He had a little pup in the front basket of his bike, and two large packs that he carried. We talked for a solid hour on a corner of a street, watching the cars roll by. Both of his parents have passed away, and he previously had a heart condition that forced him to discontinue working. So, eleven years ago, he grabbed his bike and began his great journey across North America with what money he had left to his name.
It was kind of a really great feeling talking to him, he was really nice and loved to tell his stories about things he’s seen or heard on the road.
I say next time you see a guy like this, don’t be afraid to approach them. I’m sure they’ve got some of the most interesting stories you will ever hear
P.S. I'm glad I had my camera with me to get a couple photos for memory
